Hello Perfect Plum

Living in the country has its perks, but sometimes it can be frustrating.  For example, when you live far enough out you are restricted to satellite internet.  It is slower for one thing, but when it is very stormy the weather interferes. Sometimes it stops it all together.  That would be this last weekend.  Bummer.  Let’s catch up.

I made this lovely little gift set for a friends daughter.  She had the role of Violet Boreguarde in a children’s musical this last weekend.  Of course the gift bag needed to be filled with gum, because that is what Violet is all about.  That was so much fun!

I also dug out one of my old stamp sets from 2004.  I wanted to create the look of bubbles, for the gum of course, and this set came to mind.  I don’t even remember the name of the set.  When you purchase quality it lasts for sure.  This set is twelve years old and worked like a charm.

I brought in perfect plum, elegant eggplant and some gold encore ink for this set.  Violet did indeed get a golden ticket after all.  When the scene came for her to change into the large blueberry, she had this inflatable suit that literally made her look so huge and round and most definitely violet in color.  It was a great night.  The grin she made when she looked in the bag was fantastic.

Workshop Wonders

What do you get when you bring together some creative friends?  A really unique workshop that was more fun than work that is for sure.  Just look at these adorable projects they created!

We really did have a wonderful time sharing ideas, laughing, exchanging gifts and enjoying a lovely luncheon.  I think they impressed themselves more than each other.  And I loved crafting with them.

I already blogged mine on Saturday, but wanted to just show theirs.  Two of our group couldn’t attend this one and they sure missed out.  Next time I am sure they will share something wonderful.  The ladies liked the activity so much that we decided to do it twice a year, once in December and once in the summer.  I do love these gals!

Timeless Elegance

Jumping in with both feet here everyone.  I managed to once again open a new pack of DSP, that I am so in love with, take out my favorite pattern and make something without guilt.  Isn’t this paper just so beautiful?

I feel like I got into my daughters sketch book and took out drawings for a card front.  Almost a dreamy feel.   The whole pack of paper is so pretty.  One side has a hand drawn feel and the other sides are more patterned and organized.  Best of both worlds.  I also like that it isn’t just black and vanilla, but includes sahara sand for that perfect balance.  I will be buying more of this I can tell.

To give a touch of color, even though it didn’t need it, I got out my blackberry bliss sponge dauber and did some ever so exact swirling.  It took just a few seconds to swirl around and bring in some color.  Good stuff.

I tried to use a ribbon or something else to accessorize it, but kept pulling it off.  The paper spoke for itself on this project.  I couldn’t even do a layered tag for the sentiment.  So I used my versamark and embossing powder to put the sentiment right on the paper.   I even left the inside clean to keep the focus all on this paper.

Congratulations to a Wonderful Man

Yesterday was such a wonderful day for my family, especially my husband.  He was able to participate in a graduation ceremony for earning his masters degree.  Working full time, teaching early morning religion classes, and completing his program in eighteen months with straight A’s.  Congratulations to a Wonderful Man, truly.  A card doesn’t sum up an accomplishment like that, but I needed somewhere to write the words that would.  Perfect solution.

The new stamp set Happy Birthday, Everyone is obviously more versatile that just birthdays.  I used  one of the many phrases included in this host set to make my background paper.  I just stamped it over and over again, not even trying to be straight, and it turned out pretty well.  I added the congratulations from the Sassy Salutations set.  I used black paper as well to emphasize the main sentiment, all about the congratulations here.

Even though it was for my husband, I though I could get away with a little of the dotted lace trim.  Almost compulsory there since it is new and coordinates so well.  I only used a tiny amount, no bows or anything.  Welcome to yet another wonderful In-Color.  Glad to have you Delightful Dijon!

Maritime Thank You

Today is a day filled with gratitude.  Not only for our freedom, but for those who sacrificed so much to provide it to us.  Sometimes we feel a bit removed from celebrations like Memorial Day.  Today I have the opportunity to spend time with family, and to thank my own sailor, my father-in-law.  Hence, the nautical themed projects for today.

I used the awesome anchor from Guy Greetings to make a background paper for my sentiment and stamp inside as well.  All you need to say is ‘Thank You’.  We will enjoy writing special notes in these.

I had to make a treat bag, of course.  But I knew I would be making this specific, so I actually bought candy to go inside.  It is already tucked inside ready to go.  Everyone needs a treat once in a while.

Huge Thank You Part 2

Here is the other half of the project.  You saw a bit of color at the front and probably suspected more cards.  How many?  How about ten?  Yup, I did the entire brights collection.  I knew this stamp and card idea would look wonderful no matter what color I used.  I wonder if I should do the other color sets?

All ten cards fit nicely inside this container that coordinates with both the gift set and the main card.  It also allows the large card to be on display without being in the way.  What a perfect way to brighten up your desk, right?

What card set would be complete without matching envelopes?  It just finishes everything off.  I only goofed one envelope with the stamp in the wrong corner.  It is hard to get everything right all of the time.  I can deal with that.

Now it is turned over to my daughter for nice signatures and gift giving.  It always feels good to say thank you, especially when it looks as beautiful as it feels.

Sassy Salutations with Flowering Flourishes

Let’s just say that my camera doesn’t always do me the best favors.  It is pushing ten years of heavy use, guess that is to be expected.  You get the idea though.

I was stumped for an idea, so I asked my youngest daughter for a little help.  All I asked her for was a color, something to get me started.  She said red, but not a love card.  I took her challenge and had fun with it.

I don’t normally work in red, but I do like the results.  I used two cut and ready card bases, retiring sad to say, for this set.  One for the card and the other for the box.  You could also make these from just one sheet.

I stamped on the velum with stazon and let it dry for a bit while I did the red stamping.  I hid my adhesive under the stamping and my embellishments.  Aren’t these just beautiful?  When they went on sale I broke down and bought a couple of containers.  So glad I did.  They are also retiring.

Mixed Bunches of Sassy Salutations

Well Good Morning!  Isn’t this just a huge ray of sunshine?  Bright, happy, sunny, and they make me smile.  What a great combo!

There is something about huge polka dots that just makes me smile.  After adding a smattering of flowers and an adorable greeting, all you need is someone wonderful to share them with.

Out of this set, what is retiring?  The paper of course.  Such a versatile set, I will miss it.  The angled tag topper punch.  I am glad it have it.  I love the curled and pretty ones, but sometimes you don’t want that.  And of course the flower stamp used.  It is from a set of designed flowers that also have center round stamps for layering and extra fun.  I make backgrounds out of those all of the time.  There is a coordinating punch for the flower that I didn’t use on this one.  I didn’t have crushed curry ribbon, but the hello honey was just right.  This particular ribbon is retiring, but the color will be with us for another year.  It is hard to tell in my photo, but the ribbon is just a shade or two darker.  And I love it!

These went together really fast.  The perfect example of simple stamping with coordinating products to give it the professional look we all love.

Flower Shop Gift Box Part 1

How about a big gift box for a change.  I had to control myself and keep the cards separate from this post.  You can see them tomorrow.  Eight fit inside.  Curious?  Check it out tomorrow.

I used one sheet of 8.8 x 11″ cherry cobbler card stock for this box.  Just some basic scoring, one tiny punch for a notch and a few snips.  Then, the box is there.

I made a top with another layer of cherry cobbler, giving an 1/8″ border, with a stamped whisper white sheet also cut with another 1/8″ border.  Simple stamping and some sponging.  I had planned on putting flowers on top, but it was just too much.

So here we are, a nice simple box.  It measures 6.5 x 4 x 1.  Plenty of room for the cards I made to go inside, or something else fun and exciting for sure.
