Awesomely Artistic with Watermelon Wonder

The weekends seem to get busier all of the time.  I guess that is what happens when you have a child getting married soon.  Errands and then some.  I wouldn’t have it any other way though.  I enjoyed some relaxing time yesterday afternoon finishing this gift set I actually started Friday night.  Talk about being busy.

With my love of water color, you would have thought the card came first.  Not this time.  I started with this awesome designer series paper and made an adorable gift bag.  You would think I had tons of gifts to give all of the time with the amount of bags I make, not true though.  I just love to make them.  I do share them with others though, usually as a gift to use for others.  They all find happy homes, I promise.

I did try something new with the card though.  The dragonflies were stamped in versamark on the water color paper, not new there.  I used iridescent ice on them, also not new. However, using them together as a resist for water coloring is new.  As color was applied the resist was pretty neat, not as clean as embossing powder, but still holding up.  I decided to add silver ink as well and then it changed even more.  The silver ink clung to the images more than the watermelon wonder ink did.  The look is fantastic, don’t you think? I added a little bit of silver metallic thread and five clear sequins to finish off the look.  Just divine.

Joy, Plain and Simple

As we have been showered with much needed rain here in Northern California, all I feel is joy and gratitude.  We have a long way to go, but every little bit helps.  I thought I would put my feelings into a card.

The Color Me Irresistible  Specialty DSP is so much fun to work with.  It was actually my inspiration.  I knew it had a raindrop pattern and the project just went from there.  I sponged with a dauber in silver encore ink all over in tiny swirls to give a cloudy gray look.  Turned out fantastic I must say.

The flowers were punched with the pansy punch hovering over the large dots in the silver fancy foil designer velum, using the dots as the flower center.  Nice idea, right?  I used a bone folder to curl the petals of the velum and decided I needed more flowers.  Basic gray became the flower background color and I punched another six of those.  I distressed those with a large stylus to give them dimension and lift.  Layered with dimensionals and glue dots, the side border came together.

A single stamp from the Your Presents set put the focus just right.  It was framed with a smokey slate oval and both were sponged with more silver ink.  The “i” was dotted with a metal rimmed pearl and a tiny ribbon was wrapped around.  Add one more awesome card to the mix.  A very rewarding project to make and enjoy.

Color Me Irresistible

Fall events are starting to pile up and that means plan ahead and get it done early.  This isn’t quite early, just one week, but that helps, right?  There is a church youth dance coming up next weekend and we are hosting the pre-dance dinner party.  The theme is black and white, so we are going along with that for the decorations, and yes, party favors.  I think these will do nicely.

Color Me Irresistible

These two are very simple, as should any favor should be, especially if you need to make several quickly.  I started both of them with paper sized at about 4 x 6 1/2.  Simple scoring for the gift bag and a hole punch to thread through the ribbon.  Done and done.

Color Me Irresistible

Can you go wrong with a classic sour cream container?  I think not, especially when you are working with this ever so lovely silver foil velum.  I think silver wrapped candies or white mints would look so pretty inside.  Maybe even both?  Works for me!

Delightful Birthday

It has been a while since I made a matching set like this.  For a while it seemed like I couldn’t get enough of them.  But, you can only use so many, and share so many, and eventually store so many.  I took a break, but found my way back.  So much fun!

Delightful Birthday

One full sheet of the wonderful ‘Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP’ was used to makey great set. I love that is has white sheets that can be altered to any color or tone, but I also love that it comes in colors and patterns.  The options are great, so diverse.

Delightful Birthday

A pretty gift bag with a lovely matching card has to be one of my favorite things.  I think people feel special when the attention to details are brought together like this.  The assembly was pretty direct, nothing very fancy.  Simple work and lovely results, my favorite.

Dude, Happy Birthday

While chatting with my daughter I asked her for a little inspiration for a project.  She came up with these two stamp sets.  She remembers the Paper Pumpkin stamps much better than I do.  Good to get a reminder or two.

Dude, Happy Birthday

I have to admit, I am really into the Bombs Away Birthday set.  This particular one is my favorite, but they are all pretty awesome.

Dude, Happy Birthday

I was originally going to spritz the designer paper, but I forgot to get a re-inker in tip top taupe.  Ooops!  So I opted to sponge it instead.  The geometric pattern looks pretty darn cool.  A little bit of layering, lifting everything up on dimensionals, touches of silver mini brads and a finish with silver metallic thread and this card is ready to go.

Dude, Happy Birthday

I need to remember to get those paper pumpkin stamp sets out more often.  The kits are so fun to work with when they first come, but I often put the stamps away and then move on.  I think I will have to work on getting them in cases to keep them more visible.

Thank You For Strong Girls

I do so love a pretty little carton to give someone, especially when it is full of their favorite treat.  I was thinking about my girls this morning, and how strong and amazing they are, and this treasure came to life.

Thank You For Strong Girls

I am so grateful for my daughters who remain strong through adversity.  When a woman can stand up for herself, and truly value herself, it is something worth celebrating for sure.

Thank You For Strong Girls

I took a full sheet of this wonderful Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP, cut off two inches from one side and began to score.  Each side measures 2 7/8″, so you need to start from one side, measure that distance and score each time.  This will leave you with 1/2″ on the edge that will allow you to adhere the box.  The bottom score line also measures at 2 7/8″.  I scored the top at 1/2″ and then at 3″.  Although I am not the best at directions, it does come together pretty easily.

Thank You For Strong Girls

I stamped Thank You from the One Big Meaning set.  It fit perfectly within the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  I punched a 2″ circle from the Dazzeling Diamond paper and layered them with dimensionals.  A lovely bow made from the Dotted Lace Trim finishes it off.  I did do a bit of sponging on all of the edges.  I love a sponged edge.

Irresistible Beautiful Bunch

Some days the creativity flows effortlessly and some days it would be easier to birth an elephant.  That would be today.  I had to walk away two different times before I called it done.

Irresistible Beautiful Bunch

The color me irresistible designer series paper is so very cool.  I love that I get to choose which colors I want to create as well as others that are already done and full of interest, especially this black paper.  Isn’t it so elegant?

Irresistible Beautiful Bunch

These flowers just about took me down, they still just might.  I was determined to use these new pearl embellishments and picked this flower stamp and coordinating punch to frame them.  Well, they turned out too light with my method of water coloring and I didn’t like the boarder from the punch, even though it was small, it made the flower just too light.  I did more painting and added black ink in too.  Just a bit, but it is there.  Tried curling the flowers more, and then just about tore them up.

Irresistible Beautiful Bunch

I just put them in place and grabbed the ribbon.  I wasn’t going to use a ribbon, but a sentiment layered on tags.  When I gave it a try, I decided it wasn’t so horrible after all.  I am sure there could have been other things to help, but I just had to call it and walk away.  Either way, I really don’t hate it anymore.

The Little Moments

I got it into my head to open this paper, do a sponge ombre look, and call it good.  I loved this type of paper from the Sale-a-bration bonus catalog and couldn’t wait for Stampin’Up! to make more.  They sure did.  But I had a surprise when I opened the pack up.

The Little Moments

There were six white sheets and six colored ones.  I looked into the catalog to see what was up, and sure enough, there the colored ones are too.  I thought they were just examples of how it could look all inked up.  I did not pay attention very well.  Fun for me though!

The Little Moments

The resist pattern looks like raindrops to me, guess that is what it actually is.  Marina mist seemed to be the appropriate color choice, so I sponged away to make an ombre look.  I love how striking the raindrops are, yummy.

I took a sentiment from the watercolor wings stamp set and punched it out with the note tag punch and layered it up.  Pretty simple overall.  I started out with a 6×6 piece of paper, sponged it, scored it and stuck it together.  If I was brave enough to video you would have witnessed an epic ribbon battle.  No one was injured in the making of that bow, but it was close.
