Isn’t this a lovely pairing?  The colors of fall are so beautiful to me, truly my favorites.  It should be turning fall here, but is still hot like summer.  A girl can dream, and enjoy pretty cards about fall, right?

These are other swaps that were completed samples for me, but I can’t wait to make them myself.  I have a lot of the tools, but didn’t get that cute little bear.  It comes from the Thankful Forest Friends set and I saw it as a bit too whimsy for me.  I think he, and his friends, are adorable and have put it on my wish list.

This window frame framelit set is a must have.  Paired with the brick wall embossing folder, there are endless options to enjoy.  I can honestly see myself making way too many projects with those in hand.  How fun!

The Into the Woods designer paper is so wonderful.  As I said, fall colors are my favorite, and these showcase them beautifully.  Hard to resist for sure.

I think my little stamping group would love the swap idea.  We haven’t yet, but I am going to have us try this out for sure.  Everyone has a different style and a unique set of artistic skills.  It is so fun to experience so many all at once.

No Bones About It

No, I don’t have little children, and yes, I did have to have this set.  I actually pegged it for a favorite when the new catalog first came out.  It really isn’t the speed of my card group I teach, but I wanted it for myself.  How cute is it?

There are four different dinosaurs in the set, all with matching skeletons, some fossil plant looking stamps, some splats and these awesome footprints.  As well as a few super cool sentiments to go along.

This card was done in mossy meadow and whisper white with no frills.  I embossed the base with the chevron folder and made my layered tag from the tags & labels framelits set.  Plenty of dimensionals for everyone and there you go.  I did accent it a bit with some linen thread using the 1/16″ hand held punch for the knot to show through.

Lovely as a Tree

This project was actually ready for yesterday, there just wasn’t the time to sit down and put it together.  Yesterday was all about family and it was wonderful.

I started with ribbon.  Not my usual, but I am trying to get used to this new striped cotton ribbon, and the only way to do that is to use it.  Hello honey was the ribbon color, so I coordinated the card front with the same color cardstock.  It was too smooth so to the big shot it went for some embossing.  Since it was a tree image, woodgrain worked great for me.

Before I forget, as I finished up with my sponging, I decided I couldn’t see the embossing like I wanted, so I lightly rubbed my inked sponge across the top of the embossing until it was dark enough.  Loved how that turned out.

For this pretty tree.  A single stamp in mossy meadow on watercolor paper, that is all.  I wanted to soften it a bit, so I spritzed it was water and allowed the image to blend some.  Sponging with  sahara sand for everyone, a touch of tearing, plenty of dimensionals, and this was done.  I don’t often make masculine cards, let alone an all occasion one.  But here you have it.

You’re So Vintage

I have been doing so many floral projects I thought I should bring out something different.  I have been waiting to use this stamp set, it is so different and funny to me.  The sentiment reminds me of something out of my elementary school wardrobe.  I might have had matching jeans, how exciting.

I am more happy with the sentiment layer than the rest, but I am happy enough with it to make up for the other.  It seems like the star boarder punch was a bit much, but I kept it there.  The colors though, they are spot on.  They were cool then and have made it around to be cool again.  How fun is that?

I knew I wanted to use markers to make the words different colors, but I wasn’t sure how it would react on the photopolymer.  By the time I did the last word the others had beaded up quite a bit.  I went over them, huffed a lot, and used my foam mat.  It still came up all splotchy.  However, it was perfect for the phrase!  I am so happy with it!  It looks extra cool for sure.  I almost created a lava lamp to go along, but relaxed on that front.

I can’t wait to try this out on other stamps and see which ones still look awesome. Floral stamps could look water colored even.  One adventure at a time.

Happy Father’s Day!

What more do you need to say than that?  I guess there are too many words to include in such an important day as this, but a card can only hold so many.  It is a special occasion, so I did a little more than normal for this project.

A friend of mind recently stepped out of her front door to a scene similar to this card front.  Of course hers was more accurate, and with a lot more trees, but you get the idea.  It was a beautiful sunset and I couldn’t wait to put it in a card somehow.  It worked out and was fun to arrange.

Wondrous Wreath and My Plum Trees…

I was out looking at my plum trees last night and decided I wanted to bring those colors into a project.  My photos aren’t the best, you can hardly even see the mossy meadow layer in-between the two others, but it is there.  I so need a new camera.

Either way, I still love how it turned out.  I stamped off once on my first layer of leaves.  So when I added the second layer of leaves with the second stamp I left it full strength.  Lovely contrast if I do say so myself.  I did the berries in rich razzelberry to match of course.  I continued those little guys on the inside, and they are so cute.  I can see me using the berry stamp to make a background paper.

I know my wording is a bit slanted, but I was tired.  The heat has been so bad lately that by the time I get to settle down to work, I am so warm and tired that I don’t have the patience I should.

I wasn’t sure what I would come up with last night.  I had pulled some product to work with, but when I sat down to do it, I wasn’t feeling it.  Total do over.  How about this awesome stamp instead?  Absolutely!

I had been waiting until closer to Mother’s Day to use this beauty, because it so reminded me of my mom.  She always makes flowers look beautiful, no matter how they show up. Even in rumpled newspaper.

I had to do echo stamping inside, but wanted my gift bag to mirror the stamp as well.  I think it worked out pretty good, don’t you?  Both the card and bag were made from one sheet of card stock, plus a little scrap to frame my stamped image.

I really couldn’t wait to make the little pretend newspaper on this image, like so many other stampers have done.  It was so fun, even if it was a bit tricky.  You should totally give it a try.

Just looking at this set under my spotlights makes me smile.  I absolutely love them.  With workshop coming this weekend, I might have to change a project?  No, I will stay firm, but I don’t want to.

Can you see a theme at my work station?  Yup, still working on birthday cards.  With paper this beautiful, you don’t really need a lot of extras.

I don’t know if you can tell from the photos, but several of the printed balloons are in gold foil.  It is just so pretty.  It could easily have gone without stamping, but I did just for fun.

I thought with the color combination it could easily be masculine.  Even with the seam binding ribbon.  Simple and strong.
